Endorsements
It's their job to always put people first. It makes sense they endorse the candidate who always puts people first.
A coalition of unionized city employees, representing the fire department, police department and blue collar workers, have endorsed Mayor William “Bill” Mattiace as their candidate for mayor.
Their selection was based on the knowledge, ability and experience Mattiace has shown while leading Las Cruces as the current mayor.
“We feel that these candidates have given their best efforts to enable city employees to best serve the citizens of Las Cruces,” said the coalition in a release sent to the chosen candidates.
The coalition also emphasized their duty to endorse the candidates they feel are the most qualified to represent the City of Las Cruces and its workers. “We strongly encourage the citizens of Las Cruces to vote and support our endorsed candidates on November 6th,” said the coalition.
The final selection was presented by:
- Bill Standrige, President of the Fraternal Order of Police
- Jason Smith, President of the Las Cruces Professional Firefighters
- David Carrillo, President of the Las Cruces Blue Collar Workers
- J.R. Stewart, President of the Las Cruces Police Officers Association
