Las Cruces City Councilor and former Mayor Bill Mattiace has been appointed to the Governing Board of the Mesilla Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), helping guide the future of transportation across Las Cruces, Mesilla, and central Doña Ana County.
The MPO brings local and state leaders together to set regional transportation priorities and help direct federal funding for roads, public transit, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, aviation and other projects that keep the region moving and prepare it for future growth.
"The MPO is a huge contributor to the economic prosperity of the community. I'm honored to serve and be part of the team," said Mattiace.
The role is a natural extension of Mattiace’s longstanding work on regional planning and economic development, including co-chairing the creation of Doña Ana County’s Vision 2040 plan.
